Shiny Pokémon are making their return to Pokémon TCG with the Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates expansion. The expansion launches on Jan. 26, 2024, though some of the specialty items below will launch later. The tins and Premium Collection sets will be available starting Feb. 9, 2024 and the booster bundle won’t launch until Feb. 23, 2024.

We don’t yet know about everything that’ll be contained within this expansion, as cards have only started to get revealed (and leaked) recently. But yes, this set has a big, shiny Charizard that will probably be a sought-after card for collectors. There is also a lesser, shiny Charizard that you can get in a nice tin, if you want to settle for something that’s a little less expensive to obtain.

We’ve got all of the latest info on the new expansion below. If you’re a fan of shiny Pokémon and are ready put down some cash ahead of the launch, check out the retailers that are accepting pre-orders.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box (ETB)

  • 65 card sleeves
  • 45 Pokémon TCG Energy cards
  • A player’s guide to the Scarlet & Violet — Paldean Fates expansion
  • 6 damage-counter dice
  • 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
  • 2 plastic condition markers
  • A box to hold everything, with 4 dividers to keep it organized

The Pokémon Center ETB, which you have to order from the Pokémon Center websites specifically, includes 11 packs and two copies of an illustration rare promo card of Mimikyu.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Booster Bundle

This is my personal favorite thing to buy when a new TCG expansion comes out. It’s a box of just six booster packs, with no other frills or gimmicks. It tends to be cheaper than buying six packs separately (depending on where you’re buying from) and is the best thing to buy if you just want to open some packs.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Tech Sticker Collection

This blister pack has three packs of Paldean Fates, a foil promo card of shiny Fidough, Greavard, or Maschiff (depending on which pack you get), and a huge sticker of one of those three Pokémon. It also comes with a code for Pokémon TCG Live.

Note that ordering this product from Best Buy or GameStop gives you a random blister pack. You cannot choose which Pokémon you get.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Mini Tin

Each of these adorable tins includes two booster packs of Paldean Fates, a sticker sheet, and a little card with the tin’s art printed on it.

Just like the tech sticker blister packs, if you preorder any of these tins from the above sites, you’ll get a random design from the five options.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Tin

Each of these tins features five packs of Paldean Fates, a promo card of one of the featured Pokémon (shiny Charizard, shiny Great Tusk, or shiny Iron Treads), and a code card for Pokémon TCG Live.

Again, if you preorder this tin from the above retailers, you will get a random design. If you’re going for that shiny Charizard card, you should try to hunt this tin in physical stores rather than rolling the dice and possibly getting those not-Donphan Pokémon instead.

Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet — Paldean Fates Premium Collection

These large boxes are focused around each of the Paldean starters and their evolutions. The meat of this bundle is that is includes etched foil cards of shiny Sprigatito, shiny Fuecoco, or shiny Quaxly, and its evolutions. (So if you pick the Fuecoco collection, you’ll also get a foil card of shiny Crocalor and shiny Skeledirge.)

Each collection also comes with eight Paldean Fates packs, a magnetic three-card protector, and a code for Pokémon TCG Live.

Similarly to the other sets above, ordering this collection online will net you one random choice from the three available options.

The next level of puzzles.
