A new trailer for Yakuza 6 claims to present the game’s various minigames. Darts, karaoke, exercise, batting practice, etc. But the trailer’s true purpose is thinly concealed. Forget the minigames; Sega wants you to know that Yakuza 6 is a game about the ideal single daddy.
Kiryu doesn’t romance the women at hostess bars, he holds engaging conversations. He doesn’t just play baseball, he manages the team (perfect for Little League). He spear-fishes to keep food on the table. He plays ukulele to remind us of life’s effervescence. And he manages a cat cafe, because he’s perfect. Or, purr-fect.
On top of all of this, Kiryu raises an adorable little baby. One minor note on that subject: Maybe the minigame for soothing a child shouldn’t be shaking the controller.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, which debuted in Japan in December 2016, will be released March 20 in North America and Europe on PlayStation 4.
