Persona 3 and 4’s protagonists will appear in Persona 5 Royal DLC

I’ve been waiting for this!

Persona 5 Royal, the updated version of Atlus’ 2016 JRPG, will have a special downloadable content battles that pit the Phantom Thieves against protagonists from Persona 3 and Persona 4.

The fights take place in the Velvet Room, meaning that players definitely shouldn’t look too hard into what this means when it comes to the character lore. The Velvet Room is a place out of space and time, so anything is possible in there.

Both of these fights are Challenge Battles, so you’ll likely have to really gear up to take on either of these characters. The trailer showed the Persona 4 protagonist with his signature persona, Izanagi, and images from the Japanese Persona 5 Royal website showed the Persona 3 protagonist using Thanatos. The female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable isn’t in any of the promotional material and unfortunately isn’t an option to battle against.

The stream also showed that players will be able to use the smaller, chibi looks from Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, if they want, as skins in the game. There was also a peek at an upcoming My Palace game mode, which has the protagonist exploring his world and story more.

Persona 5 Royal will be released in Japan on Oct. 31 and will come to the West in 2020 for PlayStation 4.
