If you’ve hunted a Legendary Animal in Red Dead Redemption 2 and died while carrying your precious cargo, you’ll find that your Legendary Pelt is gone after you’re resurrected.
Well, sort of. So how do you get it back? You don’t have to. Just visit a Trapper or a Fence. That’s what this in-game message means:
You abandoned your Legendary Animal. Visit the nearest Fence and Trapper to access the quality parts and pelt for crafting.
Visit any of those shopkeepers, and through what we assume is magic, they’ll have the Legendary items. They only appeared to have disappeared.
How to find RDR2 Legendary Animals
There are 16 Legendary Animals scattered across the world in Red Dead Redemption 2. Tracking, hunting and skinning them is about more than just proving your hunting prowess, though. You’ll get some fancy new duds and some valuable Trinkets and Talismans once you take their remains to the Trapper and a Fence.
Polygon’s Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Animals guide will give you some tips on hunting every Legendary Animal, show you maps of their locations (or tell you which mission leads you to them) and then show you what you can make from their parts.
