Red Dead Online’s next Frontier Pursuit is the role of Moonshiner, including story missions and activities where players can own and operate a black-market moonshine business. As with any new Frontier Pursuit, there are new skills, properties, story missions, and business ventures to explore. The update is slated for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on Dec. 13.
Red Dead Redemption 2 developer Rockstar Games outlined the update in a Rockstar Newswire post today.
“Establish your own bootlegging business in this new Specialist Role – an ideal fit for players progressing along the Trader path or anyone seeking a property to call their own,” the developer wrote. “Unlock unique role-specific skills as you perfect your distillation methods, avoid the law, and put rival peddlers out of business. If you’re lucky, you might survive long enough to open your own speakeasy.”
Players who’ve reached Rank 5 or any active Traders who’ve completed a sell mission will be able to meet Maggie Fike, an “experienced bootlegger” at Emerald Ranch to kick off the story. To get started, interested players need to buy a “Moonshining Shack” that’s essentially a homestead front, with a basement for storing moonshine. If you’re good enough, you’ll be able to set up a bar with your own home brew.
There are also new “customizable decor” options, like a “country band complete with a dance floor.” Now that sounds fun!
Along with the Moonshiners update, Red Dead Online will get the new Navy Revolver, additional clothing options, and an increase in the amount of outfit slots in your Wardrobe.”
If you haven’t started playing Red Dead Redemption 2’s Red Dead Online mode just yet, now’s a good time to start if you’re a PC player. Red Dead Redemption 2 had a rocky launch on PC, to say the least, but many of Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC launch problems have since been fixed. Now, Rockstar is also handing out free “care packages” to all Red Dead Online players on PC to make up for the rough start.
