Resident Evil Village’s introduction won’t have objectives, but it will take you through Ethan and Mia’s House, a car crash, East Old Town, and West Old Town where you’ll find a LEMI pistol, an M1897 shotgun, and bolt cutters.
In this Resident Evil 8 walkthrough, we’ll help you collect every item — like ammo, lei, rusted scrap, herbs, crystal fragments, and more — and find every key item with our maps and screenshots.

Introduction: Ethan and Mia’s house
Once you have control, your job is to take Rose to bed. On the way, there’s a lot to look at in the introduction’s house, but there’s nothing to pick up. Take as much time as you want — there are several references to Resident Evil 7 biohazard to find. Return to the kitchen to have a nice meal.
Shack

When you regain control in the snow, check the phone and document to your right, and then follow the path through the trees and under the barbed wire fence.
Fight your survival instincts and keep following the path until you reach a shack. There’s nothing to pick up inside, so continue through to the basement. Explore it all, and then head back upstairs.
Duck under the tipped wardrobe, and ignore the blood. Exit through the hole in the wall.
West Old Town

Follow the path until you side down to West Old Town. Before you head inside, check to the right (south) side for a crate with some lei.
Inside, there’s nothing you can do yet, but there are a few things to note.
Take a right into the first house you see. There’s an easy-to-pick lock on a drawer to your left (that you can’t open). To the east of that house, there’s a well that’s missing its crank handle. In the building east of the well, there’s a birdcage hanging from the rafters. We’ll come back to all of these later.
Follow the road around to the west.

On the west side of West Old Town, head into the house next to the Iron Insignia Gate. Walk past the breakable crate, and grab the knife from the table. Use it to smash open the crate for a first aid med.
Continue through the kitchen and make a new friend. He’ll hand you the LEMI pistol.
After the cutscene, you’ll be on the west side of that same house.
Conserve your ammo here. Go for one quick headshot to knock the lycan back, and then sprint back through the hole in the wall.

Head to the pantry where the old man was hiding — your attacker won’t follow. Pick up the bolt cutters.
Go back through the hole in the wall, and into the shed to the west. Pick up the chem fluid and the herb. In your inventory, craft these into a first aid med.
Back outside, use the bolt cutters on the gate to exit the yard. Cross the bridge into East Old Town.
East Old Town
Walk straight into the first building, and keep to the right to find some handgun ammo.
Turn around and use the shelves to barricade the door.
Head upstairs to the loft. Pick up the chem fluid and some more handgun ammo. Ignore the grabby lycan outside.
Back downstairs, wait for the lycan to come inside. Go for several headshots (keep going until his head explodes) or take your chances leaving him alive. Loot the body, move the shelves out of the way, and head back outside.

Take a left and loop around to the back of the house. Unlock the blue gate (this just opens a path for later).
Continue west — you’ll see a couple more lycans on the roof. Equip your knife (left on the D-pad by default), and smash the yellow crate for some handgun ammo.
The lycan ambush
You’re going to be attacked by many more lycans here. You can shoot them if you want (and grab their loot), but you’re not going win. Save your ammo.
Head up the stairs and into the house. Turn right immediately, and barricade the door behind you.
Loop around the room counterclockwise to grab an herb, the M1897 shotgun, gunpowder, and some handgun ammo (in the drawer to the left of the door you barricaded).
Continue into the next room and grab gunpowder from the barrel on your right and the handgun ammo from the table. There’s a helpful tip about bags of flour providing a cloud of cover.
Hit the flour with your knife to temporarily blind the lycans following you, and drop down the ladder. At the bottom, grab the rusted scrap,
Continue through the crawlspace. Just before the exit (and another bag of flour), turn left for some more rusted scrap. Hit the flour on your way out.

Take the stairs up to the next house. At the top of the stairs, turn left for a crate with handgun ammo.
Arc around counterclockwise to find the door at the back. Turn left immediately and barricade the door.
Starting to the right of the door, smash the crate for handgun ammo, pick up the shotgun shells on the dresser, and the herb around the corner to the right.
When the lycans breach the door, shoot the explosive barrel (mostly for fun). Back outside, you’ll meet a large new friend. Don’t bother shooting.
Sprint past him, and generally north toward the red gate. You won’t get through, but you’ll get a cutscene.
