Resident Evil Village’s “Find Dimitrescu’s chambers” and “Escape the castle” objectives take you through the Kitchen, Dining Room, Wine Room, Courtyard, Hall of Ablution, Distillery, Terrace, Dimitrescu’s Chambers, Dungeon, and Hall of Sorrow areas where you’ll find RE8’s LEMI – recoil compensator, Sanguis Virginis key item, Courtyard Key, Castle Map (Main), a Goat of Warding, Dimitrescu’s Key, and the Mask of Sorrow key item.

In this Resident Evil 8 walkthrough, we’ll help you collect every item — like ammo, lei, rusted scrap, herbs, crystal fragments, and more — and find every key item with our maps and screenshots.

Kitchen

After you fight with one of Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters, follow the hall south into the Kitchen. Grab the very fancy Sanguis Virginis bottle out of the tub as you pass.

Turn left and read the A Cook’s Diary file on the shelf. Continue around and smash the crate for handgun ammo, and then check the fireplace for rusted scrap.

In the next hallway, there’s an easy-to-pick lock on your right (we’ll get it in a second). Cut straight across and open the briefcase(?) ahead of you to find a LEMI – recoil compensator for your pistol. Equip it in your inventory by selecting the upgrade and then your pistol.

Follow the hall south where you’ll find a lockpick on the credenza(?) along the right. Take it back to open the lock at the north end of the hall for a Wooden Angel Statue.

Head through the door at the south end of the hall to reach the Dining Room.

Dining Room

As soon as you step into the Dining Room, look up. There’s a crystal fragment on the ceiling.

Head south across the dining room to grab some gunpowder from the drawer.

The door on the left is locked, so head out through the door on the right to return to the Main Hall.

Wine Room

In the Main Hall, take the stairs up to the Wine Room. Place the bottle of Sanguis Virginis in the fancy silver holder in the alcove to your right. That will open a door to a secret room.

Grab the gunpowder on your left and then open the chest on your right for the Courtyard Key.

Courtyard

Head back to the Main Hall, and then east toward the Dining Room. You’ll meet another of Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters. Hold her off as best you can, and then sprint past her. Use the Courtyard Key on the door and head through.

Take a left and follow the edge of the courtyard to find a vase with handgun ammo.

Head back to the southwest corner to find a vase with metal scrap in the shadows. About halfway across the southern side, look for a birdcage hanging above the walkway. Shoot it down for some lei.

In the center of courtyard by the gazebo, check the bushes to the southwest for an herb.

There are a few doors we can’t do anything with, so just work your way to the northeast corner where there’s another vase with rusted scrap inside.

Head through the doors in the southeast.

Castle Map (Main)

In the stairwell, check the drawer on your left for chem fluid, and then follow Lady Dimitrescu up the stairs. At the top, turn right for a vase with lei.

Follow the hall to find the Castle Map (Main).

This will fill in the rest of your map.

Walk past the door to the Hall of Ablution and into the hall on the west side. Check the drawers on the left for handgun ammo and smash the cabinet at the far end for gunpowder.

Head back to the Hall of Ablution.

Hall of Ablution

Cross the very normal room to find your clue:

“Women are blind to male advances, but the poor shall take their chances to give the lord their bounty sown, so that soon the wine may flow.”

  • Turn the statues of the two women on the right (west) side to face each other.
  • Turn the statue of the three men to face the man on horseback.

That will drain the pool, and open the door out. Take the stairs and ladder down to the basement..

Distillery

At the bottom of the ladder, face west and shoot the Goat of Warding on the ground by the candles.

Head north and wade to the barricade to find some rusted scrap. Turn left and follow the path to find a crate with lei inside.

Deal with the sickle-wielding vampire when he pops up. Right where he was hiding, turn left. Grab the handgun ammo from the table with candles, and then head for the exit to the west.

Smash the crate on the way past for some shotgun ammo. Immediately before you step into the Distillery itself, check an alcove on your right for some rusted scrap.

In the Distillery, deal with the vampire that pops up, and then loop to the back of the crates ahead of you for some gunpowder.

Three more vampires will pop up. Smash the crate to your right for handgun ammo.

Take the stairs in the southeast up and smash one more crate for more handgun ammo.

Step onto the platform (elevator? dumbwaiter?) in the southeast corner and pull the rope to travel up to the Terrace.

Terrace

As soon as you arrive, turn around and check behind the dumbwaiter for a(n) herb.

Follow the balcony around and take a left to find a room with a typewriter. Grab the bag of lei from under the desk to the right.

Follow the balcony around to see a quick cutscene. Take the balcony to the end and smash the vase for handgun ammo.

Head through the doors to (finally) find Dimitrescu’s Chambers.

Dimitrescu’s Chambers

As soon as you step inside, turn left to find the Alcina Dimitrescu’s Diary file on the couch. Examine the wall sconce in the corner to find Dimitrescu’s Key.

Use it to unlock the door on the north wall. It goes super well.

Dungeon

As soon as you stand up in the basement (B2), turn right. Turn right again and grab the gunpowder out of the bucket. In the next cell to the north, smash the crate for some lei.

Crawl through the tunnel and throw the switch to open the gate to the Dungeon.

Work your way east to the room sticking off the side. In the alcove to your left as you enter, grab the chem fluid. Smash the crate on the table for more lei.

Just north of there, throw another switch and continue. Or not.

Use the pillars to back up and avoid Alcina. Run around her to retrieve your severed hand and throw the switch. Use the pillars to run around her some more until the gate opens.

Step through, but Alcina will break a different gate to get at you. Step back to the south, sprint west, and then through the new opening she created. Run down the stairs and use the Dimitrescu Key to open the locked door.

Hall of Sorrow

Examine the statue to retrieve the Mask of Sorrow. That turns the statue into an elevator back to the Courtyard.

Escape the castle

Back in the Courtyard, let’s go place that mask first. Sprint west back through the Dining Room, Main Hall, and Hall of Four. Place the Mask of Sorrow in the Four Angels’ Busts puzzle — it’s the one to the left.

Find the four angel masks: 1/4

This will trigger a new objective. We’ll start dealing with it in the next section. For now, head into the Merchant’s Room. Sell off all your valuables and do some shopping with Duke. If you haven’t yet, buy the Recipe: Shotgun Ammo so you don’t need to rely on finding it.

When you’re done, hit the typewriter to save.
