Jeffrey Parkin (he/him) has been writing video game guides for Polygon for almost seven years. He has learned to love just about every genre of game that exists.

This part of Resident Evil Village’s “Escape the Factory” objective will take you through the Grinder Shaft, Ventilation Duct, back to the Foundry, Heisenberg’s Quarters, and Operating Room areas where you’ll find RE8’s Factory Map (Upper Levels), Ball Mold, Key Mold, Iron Horse Ball, and Heisenberg’s Key key items, as well as the Heisenberg’s Hammer and Bister Skull treasures.

In this Resident Evil 8 walkthrough, we’ll help you collect every item — like ammo, lei, rusted scrap, herbs, crystal fragments, and more — and find every key item with our maps and screenshots.

Table of contents

Mineshaft

Exit the west side of Duke’s elevator and climb the ladder. Follow the walkway around to another ladder, and climb down that one.

Break the crate for some shotgun ammo, and turn left (south) into the tunnel.

Take the first left, and collect the pipe bombs, herb, and gunpowder.

Back in the main tunnel, follow it to the next open area with the giant drill. Just before you step inside, look above you for a birdcage with handgun ammo inside.

Deal with the workers, and then collect the crystal fragment from the base of the drill. Loop to the back of the drill to find a large crystal as well. Open the cabinet on the left (east) for a lockpick.

Duck into the duct at the south end of the room, and climb down the ladder.

Face north, and blow up the wall to find a yellow quartz, a vivianite, and two large crystals.

Head through the gate at the south end of the tunnel.

Grinder Shaft

Walk forward and take a right (west) to find some gunpowder. Cut to the east, follow the walkway right, grab the metal scrap, and smash the crate with sniper rifle ammo.

As you climb, work on taking out the four glowing orange weak points to shut down the giant grinder blade.

Climb the stairs to the second level and deal with the two jetpack soldats. As you cross south, grab the rusted scrap, and smash the crate at the dead end for some lei.

Climb some more to the topmost walkway. Smash the crate to the right of the ladder for an explosive round.

Climb up through the (stopped) blades. At the top, smash the crate for some lei. Exit through the door in the east.

Climb the stairs and take a left. Open the drawer for some chem fluid, and then read the Development Note 2 file to learn about Soldat Jets and Soldat Panzers — which seem to be weak to “strong blasts.” That will probably be important. Pick up the Factory Map (Upper Levels).

At the north wall, shove the cart out of the way, and duck into the tunnel. Follow it around to the closed off room. Grab the handgun ammo from the drawer, open the case for the Ball Mold, and grab the gunpowder.

Duck back through the tunnel and climb the stairs.

Ventilation Duct

When you get blown off the walkway, shoot the orange dot to stop the fans. Turn south, and head to the end of the duct.

Look at the walkway you were just blown off to spot a yellow quartz. At the end of the duct, grab the metal scrap, rusted scrap, and shoot the Goat of Warding.

Back at the north end, pass through the fan you destroyed, and use the pipe on your right to reach a ladder. Climb it.

At the top, turn right for some chem fluid. Head to the west side of this room, and use the button to activate the elevator.

Return to Duke

At the top of the elevator, follow the hall. In the first room you reach, turn right for a birdcage with lei.

Open the cabinet on the left for shotgun ammo. On the west side of the room, grab the explosive rounds and open the case for the Key Mold.

Through the door, follow the walkway, climb the ladder, and follow the ramps up. At the top of the ramp, use the button to call Duke’s elevator. Smash the nearby crate for some shotgun ammo.

There’s a couple things to grab here while you wait for Duke to arrive. Head west and then south on the walkway west of the elevator shaft.

Face east, and drop off the walkway. You’ll land on a pipe. Follow that pipe west to the gondola(?). Grab the mine and shotgun ammo. Loop around to the back side of the crates for another mine.

Ride the zip line across to the south. Pick up the yellow quartz from the wall.

Work your way back to the elevator and visit Duke for some shopping and to save.

Foundry

Use the buttons in the elevator to head back down to the Foundry on B4 and MB4.

Use the Ball Mold and Key Mold at the Casting Machine to make the Iron Horse Ball and Heisenberg’s Key.

Heisenberg’s Quarters

Take a right from the Casting Machine, and follow the hall around to Heisenberg’s Quarters. Use Heisenberg’s Key to open it and deal with the vampires inside.

Cut left and grab the rusted scrap. Open the case in the middle of the room for the Mechanical Part (Shaft). Combine it with the Mechanical Part (Cylinder) from earlier to make Heisenberg’s Hammer.

Check the table in the northeast corner for some rusted scrap and gunpowder.

Operating Room

Back in the Foundry, go through the hall to the north. Follow it around to the switch and open the door.

Take the first right, and check the drawer for some sniper rifle ammo.

In the Operating Room, grab the lockpick on your left as you walk in. There are some flashbangs on the counter along the left as well.

At the door in the southwest, deal with the soldat, and grab the handgun ammo from the gurney.

Step through the door he opened for you. Open the case for the M1851 Wolfsbane – Long Barrel magnum upgrade. Examine the recorder on your left to hear a log from Heisenberg.

Labyrinth Puzzle

Work your way back down to Duke’s Elevator. Across the hall, go place the Iron Horse Ball into the Labyrinth Puzzle.

The trickiest part of this labyrinth is in the middle layer when you ride the gear. Remember to use the left and right triggers to rotate your view.

Collect the Bister Skull.
