Resident Evil Village guide: Every gun and weapon

Where to find every gun and customizable part

You’ll pick up a lot of weapons as you play through Resident Evil Village. You’ll find some as you explore new areas and buy some at Duke’s Emporium. Others only become available after completing the game on different difficulty settings.

In this Resident Evil 8 guide, we’ll talk about customizing and upgrading your weapons, how to choose which weapons to upgrade and which ones to sell, and then we’ll list every weapon and gun you’ll find — in roughly chronological order — along with their customizable parts (mods).

Customizing weapons and upgrading weapons at the Gunsmith

You’ve got two options for improving weapons in RE8: customizable parts (or mods) and upgrades.

  • Customization includes things like stocks to reduce recoil or expanded magazines. You’ll find these during your travels around the village or purchase them from Duke’s Emporium.
  • Upgrades, on the other hand, improve the weapons stats like damage (power) or reload time. You’ll buy these from Duke in the Gunsmith tab.

Attaching your first weapon mod (or customizable part) will earn you the Gunsmith achievement or trophy. Equipping every weapon with every customizable part will get you the Veteran Gunsmith achievement or trophy.

As you keep running into Duke — he’ll show up in each new area you explore — he’ll unlock additional levels of upgrade and sell new customization mods.

Which weapon should you upgrade?

Especially on your first playthrough of Resident Evil Village, you should improve whatever weapon you have and then immediately sell it when something better comes along. The money you put into upgrades aren’t wasted — upgraded weapons keep your alive.

Each new weapon you find is (almost) always better than the weapon you already have. For example, you’ll get the LEMI Pistol in West Old Town very early in the game. After you leave Castle Dimitrescu, you’ll find the M1911 handgun in the Workshop area of East Old Town. When you pick it up, the M1911 is more powerful than the LEMI — even if you’ve already upgraded it a few times. That means it makes sense to sell the old one, switch to the new one, and upgrade that one instead.

There is, however, a reason to fully upgrade each weapon. Completing the game once unlocks the Bonuses > Extra Content Shop. Here, you’ll spend Completion Points — points you earn by completing achievements and trophies — to add new weapons to your subsequent playthroughs. You’ll also unlock infinite ammo for weapons — but only weapons you’ve fully upgraded and customized.

If you’re looking to make your next playthrough a bit easier (and more fun), pick a weapon and upgrade it fully.
