If you try to open the throne room doors to fight Rogue Legacy 2’s first boss, you’ll learn that you can’t right from the start. You’ll need to unlock a new ability first.
In this Rogue Legacy 2 guide, we’ll explain what you need to access the first boss fight in the game, Estuary Lemech.
How to open the throne room
If you’ve already gained Aesop’s Tome, which allows you to understand Memory Fragments, then you’ll find a Memory Fragment outside the throne room which offers a tip:
There are two lamps beside the door. Both lamps must be quickly lit with a strike of the foot to open the doors.
The fire goes out fast, so we’ll have to be quick.

If you try to hit one of the lamps outside the door with a Downstrike, you’ll see it lights up. No matter how fast you move, the first lamp goes out before you can ignite the other with another Downstrike. There is a way to get to both lamps in time, but you’ll need an item: the Ananke’s Shawl Heirloom.
Ananke’s Shawl Heirloom
To gain the Ananke’s Shawl Heirloom, you need to find its special Heirloom room. Look for a room with an orange candle icon on your map. The chamber containing Ananke’s Shawl is a large, horizontal space with a statue in the far left.

Speak to the statue, which will teleport you to a mini-dungeon after restoring your health and mana. Once there, you’ll have the ability to dash. In this new area, you must survive a series of physical puzzles using your new skill. If you make it to the end without dying, all future characters will have the ability to dash on the ground and in midair.
With this new ability, you can now easily the doors to the throne room to fight Estuary Lemech. Outside of his boss chamber, hit one lamp with a Downstrike to ignite it, and then air dash to the other and Downstrike it before the first one goes out.
