Oculus announced some big news about the retail Oculus Rift, but the details we wanted — including a set release date and price — were left unsaid. Still, there's much to unpack from the press conference.

The final device looks good, and Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe noted that it would work well for people with glasses. It also seemed light while being held with one hand on the video, although we'll have to wait for the hands-on to know for sure. The built-in headphones will be easy to remove if you want to use another pair of headphones.

The sensor, which is designed to be "invisible" once hooked up, looks cute and inviting, and will be able to track the headset as well as the just-announced and very strange-looking Oculus Touch...

At its pre-E3 press conference today, Oculus revealed some of the games coming to its Rift virtual reality headset, including CCP's Eve Valkyrie, Insomniac Games' Edge of Nowhere and Gunfire Games' Chronos.

The company also showed off a handful of other games coming to the Rift, including Damaged Core by High Voltage Software, VR Sports Challenge by Sanzaru Games, Esper from Coatsink and a virtual reality version of Airmech by Carbon Games. For a look at those titles in action, check out Oculus' new sizzle reel above.

Oculus' head of worldwide studios Jason Rubin said the company is also partnering with a number of developers and publishers to make games for Rift. Those companies include Square Enix, Harmonix, Ready At Dawn, 4A Games,...

Oculus Touch controllers will allow you to bring your real hands into virtual reality, Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey announced at the Oculus reveal event today.

The prototype system is comprised are two wireless controllers, mirror imaged for each hand. The Oculus Touch controllers, Luckey said, use the same tracking technology as the Oculus Rift headset. Each has an analog stick, two buttons and a trigger. Unlike the compatible Xbox One controller, the buttons are split between two hands. Both have haptic capabilities, which will allow players to feel feedback when hanging out in virtual reality.

Oculus has used the Oculus Share website to allow developers to upload their own experience and demos for the community, and that system will be expanded in the future, but the big news is that the company will be offering $10 million to support indie developers creating content for the Oculus Rift.

This is great news for smaller teams who have made large bets on virtual reality, and will allow the company to lock up an extensive number of smaller games for its platform when it launches in the first quarter of 2016.

There was no mechanism shared for how developers can get in touch to ask about funding, but it's likely the company has already reached out to many teams in the development community.

Oculus is sharing a ton of news about the upcoming retail Oculus Rift hardware, but one of the more surprising pieces of news is that the hardware will come with a wireless Xbox One controller and a wireless adaptor and will work natively with Windows 10.

Microsoft's Phil Spencer took the stage to describe the included features.

You'll also be able to stream Xbox One games in a theater-like environment to the Oculus Rift, allowing you to play Xbox One games is a sort of virtual home theater, complete with the built-in sound hardware of the Oculus Rift.

"There is going to be a lot more to come," Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said, hinting at more social uses for the Oculus Rift on Windows and Xbox One.

Oculus unveiled the controller for its Rift headset today: It's a wireless Xbox One controller and will ship with Oculus' virtual reality headset.

Microsoft's Xbox One controller will be compatible with Windows 10, thanks to a wireless adapter, the company announced this week. That adapter will be packed in with the Rift.

Brendan Iribe, Oculus CEO, said that including a gamepad for the consumer version of the Rift is "really important," and called it "the right move for game developers and gamers."

Oculus hinted that other input devices for Rift might also be announced at today's pre-E3 press conference.
