Nearly lost in the glut of news about Fallout 4 last night — the crafting, the character creation, the real Pip-Boy, and the fact this sucker is gonna be in our hands in five months — was one of the cooler little touches Bethesda will be bringing to its video game.

It's video games. On your Pip-Boy.

The Pip-Boy your vault dweller picks up has an animation for loading holotapes when you play them back. It appears that someone at Bethesda Game Studios figured, wait a minute, if we have a machine that accepts tapes or cartridges, it's got to play some games. So it does. "Red Menace" and "Atomic Command."

They're playable riffs on Donkey Kong and Missile Command, created by "Vault-Tec Game Studios" in 2053 of this alternate future....

Hey, no pressure for next year, Bethesda.

If you want to relive the entire experience but time is at a minimum (we don't need an excuse, we get it, you're busy!) here's an eight-and-a-half-minute edit of the entire thing.

Fallout 4 will be released on November 10, Bethesda Softworks' Todd Howard announced at the publisher's E3 2015 press conference today. Yes, that's this year. 2015.

Bethesda offered a deep dive into Fallout 4 during its press conference tonight, showing off player customization (including the option to play as a female Vault dweller), what the game world looked like before nuclear devastation, deep weapon customization and crafting, a real-life Pip Boy and more.

The developer also revealed another game in the Fallout universe, Fallout Shelter, which is available for mobile devices starting today.

The next entry in the Fallout franchise is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Fallout 4 will feature customization, building and crafting at a scale never before seen in the role-playing game. During a lengthy presentation at Bethesda's E3 news conference, game director Todd Howard showed how players may build their own dwellings, modify weapons and trick out their power armor.

The reel showed players building homes and provisioning them with resources, power generators and defenses — as raiders will assuredly attack. The level of customization was borderline Minecraft-esque.

Bethesda Game Studios is working on a mobile Fallout game called Fallout Shelter, the company announced today during Bethesda Softworks' pre-E3 showcase.

The game makes you the overseer of your very own vault. You build out rooms from an anthill side view, à la XCOM. You'll control the residents of the vault, and can expand their number as well as the structure itself — by sending two of them into a room to procreate, of course.

Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard noted that Fallout Shelter will be free-to-play, but promised that it won't contain paywall timers or require an internet connection. Loot comes in the form of lunchboxes, and you can buy additional ones in the game.

Fallout Shelter will be available on iOS tonight; Howard...

Bethesda Softworks showcased the beginning of Fallout 4 on stage at its E3 keynote. Strikingly, this game will begin by showing the player the pre-apocalyptic world.
