Sith Troopers from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker unveiled for San Diego Comic-Con

He looks very fascist, er, fashionable

The newest member of the First Order is called the Sith Trooper. The new baddie’s outfit was revealed Wednesday as part of the lead-up to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The red-armored soldier will appear in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The announcement comes with a cavalcade of merchandising tie-ins. The most informative is the Hasbro Black Series toy, which includes a mess of curious accoutrement. Among them is a wicked little short sword, a short-barreled blaster carbine with an adjustable stock, and what looks very much to be a handheld flamethrower. Meanwhile, the most detailed glimpse comes from Hot Toys. Their $230 1/6th replica trooper gives a great preview of the angular, ribbed textures all over the red plate.

According to information revealed on this week’s The Star Wars Show, the Sith Trooper will be on display at SDCC as one of nine screen-used costumes from across the fictional galaxy.

Of note is the fact that Sith Troopers aren’t new to the Star Wars lore. According to the Wookieepedia entry, they date all the way back to the Clone Wars.

Polygon will be on the scene at this year’s SDCC with loads of coverage from the floor. We’re also hosting a rooftop party with Janina Gavankar, an actor and maker known for her work as Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
