Like other FromSoftware games, Sekiro’s merhants aren’t always obvious or easy to find. You’ll meet one such vender, Pot Noble Harunaga, pretty early on in the game. This guide will tell you about where to find him and the strange currency he traffics in.
Pot Noble Harunaga
You won’t be able to access the area where you’ll find Harunaga for a little while. Once you receive the Young Lord’s Bell Charm and offer it to the Buddha statue in the Dilapidated Temple, you’ll get access to the Hirata Estate region.

You can get to Harunaga from either the first Sculptor’s Idol at the Dragonspring or the second at the Estate Path. From the Dragonspring, the start of Hirata Estate, head along the path until you come to the bridge. (Check the river’s shore below you on your left here to find a Treasure Carp Scale.) Cross the bridge, then turn right instead of heading up the incline to the Estate. Head down to the water and swim out to the small island ahead of you. If you look closely, you’ll see Harunaga waving his arm from a pot.

From the Estate Path Sculptor’s Idol, you’re actually much closer to Harunaga. Turn back toward the gate behind you and grapple over it. Take a left and follow the cliffs — you’ll find some stairs here that will lead you down to the river. (Just watch out for the dog and the enemy.)

Pot Noble Harunaga only deals with one type of currency: Treasure Carp Scales, which you get from finding and killing Treasure Carp. These fish are a pretty rare creature, so you’ll have to keep a careful eye out for them.

There is at least one that swims in the river near Harunaga, but you’ll have to be quick to catch it. If it spots you, it’ll disappear into deeper water (they’re skittish like Crystal Lizards in the Dark Souls games). If you continue along the path up toward Hirata Estate, you’ll come to another bridge that leads to the Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen. There’s another Treasure Carp in the river off the left side of that bridge (as you’re facing the area with the hunter).

Harunaga only sells four items, but since his preferred currency is so hard to come by, you’ll have to make several trips back to him to buy them all. His items are:
- Divine Grass. A potent healing item that fully restores Vitality and cures status all abnormalities.
- Withered Red Gourd. A limited-use gourd similar to your Healing Gourd that decreases Burn buildup and increases Burn resistance. It doesn’t, however, cure the Burn status abnormality.
- Mask Fragment: Right. A piece of a mysterious mask.
- Floating Passage Text. A Combat Art skill.
