Spider-Man: Miles Morales Sound Samples map locations guide

Collect some beats for your uncle

Toward the end of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales campaign, you’ll meet your uncle in Hell’s Kitchen and he’ll drop a real bomb on you: He and your dad were working on a mix-tape together. He’ll ask you to help him finish their work by re-recording their sounds of the city.

Here’s how to find all 10 of the Sound Samples in NYC.

Table of contents

Sound Sample 1 – Buoy bell in Hell’s Kitchen

Find the buoy in the river

This is the tutorial Sound Sample and you’ll have to find it to move on with the campaign.

Aaron Davis will teach you how to match the Sound Samples. You’ll need to scan around the world looking for a sound in the area that matches the sound the brothers originally recorded.

In this first Sound Sample you’re looking for a red buoy sitting in the bay. It should be on your right if you’re staring into the river. Aim in and listen to the buoy and you’ll find a match. Hit the record button to get this Sound Sample.

Sound Sample 2 – Water drip in the Upper East Side

Find the water tower on the building

You’ll find the next Sound Sample in the Upper East Side. Go to the Sound Sample starting location and activate the quest. You’re looking for a big water tower sitting on a nearby building. Aim your camera at the ice under the water tower and record the water dripping.

Sound Sample 3 – Flock of pigeons in Central Park

Sneak up to the pigeons with camouflage

You’ll need to get a bit clever with this one. Move to the starting location in Central Park and jump onto the ice below the bridge. You’ll see a group of pigeons nearby. You’ll need to record these guys up close and personal. To do that without scaring them off, turn on your Camouflage and sneak up on the birds before you hit record.

Sound Sample 4 – Fire Truck Engine in the Upper West Side

Just find the fire truck still in the building

Head to the Upper West Side and activate the Sound Sample mission. You’ll be near a fire station and this Sound Sample should be pretty easy to guess. Look into the open door where some firemen are standing. There’s a fire truck sounding its alarm. Aim in and record the Fire Truck Engine Sound Sample.

Sound Sample 5 – Neon Sign Hum in Midtown

Look for the neon sign in Times Square

Head to the Sound Sample starting location in Times Square in Midtown. Look around for a small building shack the road. On the backside you’ll see a neon sign shaped like an American flag. With your eye on the sign, jump onto a building where you can still see it (use the image above to help you with the distance.) Once you’ve reached the proper distance, record the Neon Sign Hum Sound Sample.

Sound Sample 6 – Church Bells in Greenwich

Look to the church steeple for the bells sound

Head to Greenwich and start the Sound Sample mission. Web-zip onto the nearby gazebo and perch on the roof. This Sound Sample is a little devious, because the source is outside the Sound Sample area. While standing on the gazebo, look at the nearby church tower and record the Church Bells sound sample.

Sound Sample 7 – Wind Chimes in Chinatown

Find the chimes strung between the building

Swing over to Chinatown and activate the Sound Sample start. Walk around the area until you find a gate with Chinese characters on it. If you aim your recorder just under the gate you’ll see some hanging wind chimes. Hit the record button here to capture the Wind Chimes Sound Sample.

Sound Sample 8 – Ferry Horn in the Financial District

Find the giant boat in the river for this sound sample

Start the Sound Sample mission in the Financial District. Jump on the circular arena and aim into the river. You’ll see a big boat in the distance. Aim in and hit record to capture the Ferry Horn Sound Sample.

Sound Sample 9 – Train Rumble in Harlem

Look far into the distance for and scan the train tracks for this sample

This Sound Sample is pretty tricky. You’ll need to time it just right and aim pretty far away from the square area that’s supposed to hold the sound. Open your map and find the train tracks. Stand where you can see the tracks and aim your recorder. Wait for the train to roll by and hit the record button as soon as you see it. If you time it right you’ll capture the Train Rumble Sound Sample.

You may have to try a few times to get the timing right, but start recording as soon as you see the prompt.

Sound Sample 10 – The Davis Brothers Mix, ‘Back to the Beginning’ side quest

Follow the side quest marker to finish off this collection

Once you’ve grabbed the first nine Sound Samples around NYC, you’ll unlock the Back to the Beginning Side Quest. Mark it on your map and go to the starting location to find the Prowler’s lair. Explore around and interact with the nearby locker to unlock the final Sound Sample: The Davis Brothers Mix.

This is the final step in this scavenger hunt. Once you complete all the Sound Samples, you’ll unlock the Purple Reign suit.
