Pretty early on in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you need to choose between exploring two planets next. In this guide, we’ll help you choose between Zeffo and Dathomir.
The only real guidance you get is that Dathomir is a nightmare planet and you definitely shouldn’t go there, which is usually video game-speak for “go there next.” But here’s the thing: There’s no wrong answer.
You won’t miss anything by going to Zeffo or Dathomir first. And you can always change your mind and head to the other. No matter what you do at the beginning of the game, you’ll visit and explore both planets eventually.
So let’s talk about the benefits and challenges of visiting each planet first.
Zeffo first
Zeffo is the safer option, and it’s more in line with the game’s story. The enemies and challenges you face on Zeffo are more appropriate for your abilities this early in Fallen Order. You’ll also pick up a new Force ability and an upgrade for BD-1 (these aren’t necessary for Dathomir first, but upgrades are always nice to have).
Short version: Zeffo is easier.
Dathomir first
To put it simply: Dathomir is difficult. That’s not to say that it’s impossible. You’re capable of taking on (some of) Dathomir as soon as you have the option to fly there. It’ll just be a whole lot easier if you wait until much later in the game when the story leads you there.
There’s a bit of reward if you risk going to Dathomir first: You’ll get a lightsaber upgrade earlier than you otherwise would if you headed to Zeffo first.
To get that, you’ll have to fight your way through some of the game’s toughest enemies. If you survive, the upgrade you pick up will make Zeffo easier. (This upgrade will come up a bit later and on a different planet if you follow the Zeffo-first path.)
Short version: Dathomir is hard, but you’ll get a lightsaber upgrade earlier than you otherwise would.
