Once you get into The Sims 4, there may be items or styles that you want but that aren’t in the game. That’s where custom content (or CC) and mods come in. Our The Sims 4 CC guide will lead you to some of the best CC and mod sites to help deck out your households.

CC normally refers to hair, clothes, and furnishing objects you can add to your game, whereas mods change things like new personality traits.

Custom content is normally broken down into two types: Maxis Match and Alpha. Maxis Match CC matches the style used in The Sims and Alpha typically looks more realistic. Keep your eyes on the tags on any CC you find to make sure it matches the look you’re going for.

Installing CC and mods is as easy as dropping the downloaded files into your respective mods folder.

Finding the perfect CC and mods is the hard part, but luckily there websites dedicated to hosting pretty much every CC pack you can think of. These are some of our favorites databases:

If looking at that list of website is daunting, we’ve curated a list of our favorite mods from across all of those websites below.

MC Command Center

OK, technically this isn’t on any of the above websites as it’s a standalone mod, but MC Command Center is absolutely important. This mod essentially allows you to control things like careers, pregnancy, and even cheats with a button-based UI in game, rather than having to type out cheat codes. It helps a ton with story progression, removing things you might not want around your town, and other just generally helpful stuff.

The Sims 4 Ikea Home Stuff

Older Sims games had Ikea Stuff Packs, which added iconic Ikea brand furniture into the game. The Sims 4 is sorely lacking that, but simsi45 on Mod The Sims created The Sims 4 Ikea Home Stuff as a custom content pack. The furniture is clean and pretty easy to match, so it makes building simple rooms easy.

Simsi45 has a ton of good Maxis Match stuff in general that we recommend, like Teen Style Stuff or a comfy collection of pillows.

Sims 4 Multiplayer Mod

Using a local network and the Sims 4 Multiplayer Mod, you can play The Sims 4 with multiple people live on one save file. You’ll need to use a server application to host the game from a stronger PC, but this mod puts an excellent twist on playing with friends.

The Sims 4 Modern Kitchen Stuff

If you’re tired of your kitchen having that one specific orange and silver kitchen set, this is the CC pack for you. The Sims 4 Modern Kitchen Stuff CC pack by littledica is a great way to make your Sims’ kitchens look like more like a real kitchen without making it look too jarring.
