Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Netflix’s revival of the beloved CW dramedy from the previous decade, will premiere Nov. 25, the streaming service announced today.
The series will be split into four parts approximately 90 minutes long. It’s unclear if they will all debut at the same time — the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend at 12:01 a.m. PT — on Netflix, but series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that she would prefer for them to be released at least one day apart.
Each chapter will take place during a season, starting with winter and ending with autumn. A Year in the Life is set in the present day, nearly a decade after the end of the original Gilmore Girls in 2007, and returns to the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
Netflix released a two-minute teaser for A Year in the Life today; you can check it out below. The series’ famously fast-paced dialogue is in fine form, as Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and her mother, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), discuss whether a couple of late-night TV hosts would get along with Lorelai. Update: All four parts will indeed premiere simultaneously on Netflix at midnight on Thanksgiving night, Sherman-Palladino confirmed during the Television Critics Association's summer press tour.
"I told Netflix that I was going to hang myself from a shower curtain if they put it out at once," said Sherman-Palladino, "and they said, ‘Can we help you with that? We have really nice shower curtains.’"
