Following the finale of HBO’s summer hit, The Night Of, the network debuted the newest trailer for Westworld, its upcoming sci-fi series set to debut this fall.
In past trailers, we’ve been given glimpses into the world originally created by Michael Crichton in 1973, but this is the first video that explores the concept of the show’s major theme in detail. It also provides a little more information on the main characters, including Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores Abernathy, Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Robert Ford and Ed Harris’ The Man in Black.
The show follows a group of characters living in an abandoned theme park of sorts as they try to decipher what is real and what isn’t. The people who attend this theme park pay a lump sum to allow their time-period specific dreams to become real through a group of AI machines that act out the parts. In Westworld, however, things go awry when the machines start to malfunction and kill the crew working at the resort.
Westworld premieres Oct. 2 on HBO.
