Superman is officially joining his cousin on Supergirl this season and the CW has released the first clip showcasing the heroes in action.
The new TV spot, which can be seen above, features Superman and Supergirl meeting on the top of the building. It doesn’t provide much insight into who or what the two are taking on, but it is the first time that we’ve seen footage of them in action together.
Last season, the Supergirl writing team began to integrate Superman into the story, but it was through uses of the term cousin or friend. Superman never actually made an appearance on the show in costume (he once appeared as a young Clark Kent) and the references were still vague as they couldn’t actually mention him by name.
Now, Superman won’t just join the series, but he’ll be a regular and reoccurring character. The hero, played by Tyler Hoechlin, will partner up with Supergirl in multiple episodes to save the city from devastation.
Supergirl, which moved to the CW this year after less-than-stellar numbers on CBS, premieres Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.
