The Flash is just a little over a week away from its third season debut on the CW, and in the newest trailer, DC’s fastest hero can be seen teaming up with a new character on the show to tackle crime around Central City.
This is the first time that Kid Flash, played by Keiynan Lonsdale (who also portrays Wally West in the show), is being introduced to the series, and it’s only possible because of showrunner Greg Berlanti’s decision to incorporate the plot of Flashpoint into the season. Based on the iconic comic book series of the same name, Flashpoint examines what would have happened if Flash went back in time to save his mother and, in doing so, completely change the outcome of the future.
Although Barry can’t remember anything from his previous life — he has no idea that Kid Flash is actually Wally West — it looks like he might get some hints from Reverse Flash. The trailer also teases a new speedster character in Central City and confirms that Kid Flash most certainly does not like the first part of his superhero name.
The Flash returns for its third season on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow will also return that week for their respective fifth and second seasons, with newcomer Supergirl heading to the CW for its second season on Oct. 10.
