FX shared the first trailer for its upcoming X-Men series, Legion, back at Comic-Con in July, but a new teaser released by the network shows off just how weird it’s going to get.
In the 15-second teaser, which can be seen above, David Haller (Dan Stevens) and his best friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) sitting in the insane asylum where the beginning of the show takes place. They’re not saying anything to one another as they stare at a drooling man, and despite the clip only lasting 15 seconds, there’s a level of absurdity in it that seems to translate what the tone of the show is going to be.
Legion, which is a spinoff of Marvel’s comic book series New Mutants, focuses on Haller, the son of Professor Charles Xavier. Admitted to a psychiatric hospital and diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, Haller soon realizes that the voices he hears in his head may not be a symptom of the disease but his powers coming into play. The character is often viewed as one of the anti-heroes within the Marvel universe.
The show is being executive produced by Noah Hawley of Fargo fame and will star Stevens and Plaza alongside Jean Smart and Rachel Keller. Legion debuts in 2017.
