Magic School Bus revival will star Ghostbuster’s Kate McKinnon as Ms. Frizzle

Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!

PBS

Netflix is getting ready to being production on its upcoming, animated revival of The Magic School Bus and the network confirmed today during an event in New York that Kate McKinnon would take on the role of voicing Ms. Frizzle.

McKinnon, who is best known for her work in last year’s Ghostbusters and as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, will play the character made famous by Lily Tomlin. The original series ran between 1994 and 1997 on PBS and followed Ms. Frizzle and her students as they went on fantastic science adventures, like going inside the human body or across the solar system.

The Magic School Bus reboot was first announced in 2014 and was supposed to premiere on Netflix last year, but was delayed. The show currently does not have a premiere date and there’s little else known about it, but Netflix has said the reboot would feature a modernized version of the character. There will be modern tools and technology interwoven into the show that would appeal to a new generation of kids.

All four seasons of the original Magic School Bus are available to stream on Netflix now.
