It wouldn’t be a proper Marvel production without the appearance of Stan Lee in some capacity, and after binging Iron Fist all weekend, the comic publisher’s forefather has been discovered.
In order to find Lee, you’ll have to wait until the very end. He doesn’t make his appearance until the thirteenth episode, and even then, it can be easy to miss if you’re not paying close attention. In the walkway of a building, there’s a poster for the NYPD. It’s a recruiting poster, with the saying “Be Proud” running down the side, and as you’ll notice, Lee is the face of the organization.
A screenshot of the cameo was uploaded to Imgur yesterday. If you haven’t seen Daredevil, Jessica Jones or Luke Cage, the poster may seem like a random occurrence, but this has become what Lee is known for in the Marvel Universe on television. In all four series, Lee has appeared on the same poster.
Here he is in Daredevil, hanging out on a plaque in the back of a police station.
And here he is again on another plaque in Jessica Jones, as discovered by Comic Book Resources.
Finally, Lee can be seen in a different poster for the NYPD in Luke Cage, as discovered by Cosmic Book News. Unlike the other posters, which are being used to recruit new police officers, this one has the quintessential New York phrase, “See a crime? Report it” written in bold letters just under Lee’s head.
The next time a Lee cameo will make an appearance will probably be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which is due out May 5, but there’s no question his face will be spotted once again in Marvel’s biggest TV event yet, The Defenders.
The Defenders, which brings together all four superheroes from the Netflix and Marvel universe, will debut later this year. Both seasons of Daredevil, and the first seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all available to stream on Netflix right now.
