Prepare for Adventure Time’s very last miniseries

The end is nigh for Finn and Jake fans

The final Adventure Time miniseries, “Elements,” will kick off later this month. Cartoon Network uploaded its special intro sequence to its YouTube page today, giving longtime viewers the first taste of one of the series’ last major arcs.

“Elements” picks up where last fall’s “Islands” left off. Finn and Jake return to Ooo to find it in a much different, weirder state than where they left it in the previous set of special episodes. Joining them are Simon — also known as the Ice King — and his long-lost love, Betty, who returns to the show after more than a year away. Princess Bubblegum and crew will also be around; she’s the one singing this unique take on the theme song.

The first episode of the miniseries premieres April 21. Two episodes will then air per night from April 24 until April 27, with eight episodes total.

Adventure Time is set to wrap up in 2018, so consequential episodes like these are becoming fewer and farther between. Production has already wrapped on the beloved cartoon, in fact; “Elements” is just a reminder that we are one step closer to an end of a fantastic era in children’s TV.
