When the cult-hit animated show Daria ended with a stand-alone movie in 2002, the titular character was at a crossroads trying to figure out what her future included: Would she go to college or continue her relationship? 20 years after it debuted, co-creator Susie Lewis Lynn have finally provided fans with an answer.
As many might have hoped, Daria went on to have a very lucrative career in writing, according to a new piece in Entertainment Weekly. Her dry wit and sardonic humor eventually led her to a head writing job at a late night comedy show in New York City. Daria lives alone, with her cat, and like almost everyone else in New York City, is trying to navigate the complex jungle of the city’s dating scene. She has gotten past her crush on Trent, and she seems to be doing okay.
Essentially, Daria grew up to be Liz Lemon in 30 Rock, and that’s more than okay.

The piece also addresses the futures of other popular Daria characters, like the aforementioned Trent, Daria’s best friend Jane, and her younger sister Quinn. Like Daria, Jane went to New York to pursue a career as an artist. She got married to an archaeologist, with whom she attends fancy art galas and independent film screenings. Quinn became a YouTube celebrity and works on her channel dedicated to baking and skin care. She also has three triplet sons — Timmy, Tommy and Teddy.
The big question is what happened to Trent? Like Jane and Daria, he moved to Queens and lives in a house with his four bandmates. Although the band has had a bit of success, he now bartends while hanging out with Jane.
