Rocko’s Modern Life is headed back to Nickelodeon for the first time in more than 20 years, with a one-hour special that picks up with the characters as they adjust to a more modern life than ever before.
Where have they returned from? Why do they need to adjust? Oh, it’s because they’ve been drifting in space for two decades. Seriously.
“Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks,” a Nickelodeon press release said when casting for the special was announced. “Rocko whole-heartedly believes his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.”
The entire main and recurring cast of the show is back in the voice-actor’s booth for the one-hour special, entitled Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, including Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko, Spunky) and Tom Kenny (Heffer, Really Really Big Man). Show creator Joe Murray will executive produce.
