First American Horror Story: Apocalypse trailer reveals and revels in a terrifying crossover

Sarah Paulson’s new character Venable leads a mysterious post-apocalyptic safe house

After all the teasers and casting announcements, the first official trailer for this month’s American Horror Story: Apocalypse is finally here.

The video gives us our first tangible plot details of the Murder House/Coven crossover season. Sarah Paulson’s new character Venable appears to be leading some sort of post-apocalyptic safe house, with Kathy Bates’ new character at her side. It’s providing safety for a few new characters, including American Horror Story newcomer Joan Collins and veteran Evan Peters’ new character. There’s a crashing plane, talk of radiation, and strict rules and corporal punishments. But that’s just a small glimpse into the new story.

We also get glimpses of characters from the previous seasons: Paulson’s Cordelia Goode is joined by Myrtle Snow and Madison Montgomery; the infamous Rubberman from Murder House creeps around; fan-favorite Misty Day looks briefly at the camera.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres on Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. on FX.
