HBO sizzle reel gives a few new glimpses of Game of Thrones, Watchmen

It’s not a lot, but it’s something

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

A hype reel for HBO’s 2019 season to come gave two new glimpses — emphasis on glimpses — of Game of Thrones final season, and the Watchmen series on deck.

It’s a few drips, nothing to slake much thirst for either long-awaited show, both of which were teased on another big awards night — the Golden Globes back in January. We get a column of Unsullied marching under one of Daenerys’ dragons and Arya looking on contentedly (yet with no one else dead in the frame? interesting) plus a medley of character shots from Watchmen, also without any dialogue. It ends with, presumably, Viserion and whatever was left of the Wall crumblin’ down.

Game of Thrones season eight premieres April 14. Watchmen comes sometime later this year. So does His Dark Materials, shared with the BBC and teased earlier today. The rest of the trailer touts about three dozen other series, mini-series and movies, including Deadwood, which began shooting last October.
