Given how the Netflix series ended, it might more be news if there wasn’t a second season of The Umbrella Academy. But it’s been renewed for a second season, Screen Rant reports.
Production is said to begin sometime in May and will go on until September. That should have it ready for a 2020 premiere around the time it did this year (Feburary).
Without getting spoiler-y (though you can do that here, if you want), season 1’s direction veered sharply from what readers of the original Dark Horse Comics series may be familiar with. So it’s not like there’s much of a second source here to tell fans what happens to the Hargreeves siblings.
Season one of The Umbrella Academy became available on Feb. 15 on Netflix. The show features Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, and Mary J. Blige among its ensemble cast. Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater are the showrunners.
