Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney and Ubisoft unveil gaming sitcom Mythic Quest

McElhenney stars as a hot creative director, of course

Between Watch Dog: Legion and Operation Phantom Sight debuts, Ubisoft ceded the E3 showcase floor to a different personality: actor Rob McElhenney. The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and creator made a surprise appearance to preview his new Apple Plus TV series, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, a sitcom lampooning the world of — you guessed it — game development.

Ubisoft Film and Television’s first live-action comedy series, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is the brainchild of McElhenney, and Sunny veterans Charlie Day and Megan Ganz. It follows a game studio as it prepares to launch the next installment of its epic fantasy series. McElhenney stars as the main character: the hotshot, playboy creative director Ian Grimm.

“Like most of the creative directors I’ve met, he has the ego the size of a city bus,” McElhenney said on stage. “I’m going to get my ass kicked backed stage because there are lot of creative directors here.”

Joining McElhenney are F. Murray Abraham (Homeland, Amadeus), Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris), David Hornsby (Always Sunny), Danny Pudi (Community), Ashly Burch (OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes), Charlotte Nicdao (Please Like Me) and Jessie Ennis (Better Call Saul)

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is part of the first wave of A-list programming from Apple TV Plus, Apple’s new streaming service. Though McElhenney and Ubisoft didn’t announce an air date, the sitcom is expected to debut around the fall launch of the service.
