Stranger Things sweetheart Gaten Matarazzo is picking up another horrifying credit at Netflix — this time, a prank show about jobs. Deadline reports that Matarazzo will both host and executive produce the hidden-camera prank show, titled Prank Encounters.
From Netflix: “Each episode of this terrifying and hilarious prank show takes two complete strangers who each think they’re starting their first day at a new job. It’s business as usual until their paths collide and these part-time jobs turn into full-time nightmares.”
Stranger Things is terrifying. I watched each episode of both seasons with all of the lights on and in close proximity to other human beings if I could swing it, because I am a baby. But this sounds like a fresh hell for anyone who has ever spent their first day at a new job trembling in fear of bungling everything. Plus, pranking people with jobs? In this economy?
Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the series, which will hit the streaming platform later this year. Matarazzo will executive produce with Ben Silverman, Howard Owens for Propagate, and Rob Hyde. Anthony Gonzalez (Dance Moms) will direct.
