The Walking Dead is set to return for its 10th season this fall, and after last season’s countless surprises and series-changing twists, we finally know what’s in store for Michonne and the rest of the survivors in her last season on the show. This first trailer for season 10 was revealed during The Walking Dead’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 on Friday. The show’s official account also tweeted to let fans know that The Walking Dead would return to AMC on Oct. 6.
The trailer teases a growing conflict with the Whisperers, and even hints at a war that could be on the way. The trailer also gives us plenty of glimpses of other characters, as we see Negan preparing to fight alongside Aaron while Daryl and Carol debate about whether to stay with the group or leave everything behind.
Last season saw more twists than most Walking Dead seasons. Fans were shocked early on when both Rick and Maggie left the survivors and the series as a whole. Just a few episodes later, at the end of the season, the group ran into more trouble when Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, beheaded 10 members of the group. The season ended with a snowstorm and a mysterious call coming over the radio — a mystery that’s hinted at in the trailer, but likely won’t be solved until season 10 begins.
AMC’s The Walking Dead will continue for the foreseeable future, even though the comics on which it is based ended with issue #193 earlier this month. The network is also working on a third Walking Dead TV show alongside this one and Fear the Walking Dead.
