Cast reunions are all the rage this day, so have room in your heart for one more, very special and timely reunion. The cast of The West Wing will be reuniting for a staged theatrical presentation of an episode — a special timed to benefit When We All Vote, a non-profit and nonpartisan organization dedicated to increased voter participation.
The original cast will come together to stage “Hartsfield’s Landing,” an episode from the show’s third season that focuses on a small town’s primary election that President Bartlet is obsessed with winning. The episode is inspired by the real-world Hart’s Location, New Hampshire, which holds its election earlier than other areas of the country.
It’ll be a stage-performed interpretation of the episode, allowing creator Aaron Sorkin to flex his playwright skills. The returning cast includes Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen. The special will be shot over multiple days and air on HBO Max sometime this fall (likely closer to votin’ time).
The episode will include special guest appearances, including Michelle Obama, co-chair and founder of When We All Vote. What will these celebrity guests be doing? Why, telling you to vote, of course!
