Fans of Apple TV Plus’ Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet can now check out the first trailer for its second season, which premieres in May, Apple announced Friday. Created by the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cohort (Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz), the workplace sitcom follows a game development studio making an online role-playing game.
In the season 2 teaser trailer, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao), the newly promoted co-director of the studio, and her fellow director Ian (Rob McElhenney) sit down to brainstorm ideas for the game’s new expansion. The interaction is ... awkward, as they stumble through what new content for the game could look like.
Here’s the full synopsis for season 2 from Apple:
With the quarantine finally over, season two of “Mythic Quest” finds everyone back in the office (well, almost everyone), attempting to build upon the success of Raven’s Banquet by launching an epic new expansion, but Ian (Rob McElhenney) and the newly promoted co-creative director, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao), struggle with the game’s direction. Meanwhile, C.W. (F. Murray Abraham) reconciles some unresolved issues from his past, the testers (Ashly Burch and Imani Hakim) test the bounds of an office romance, and David (David Hornsby) loses yet another woman in his life as Jo (Jessie Ennis) leaves him to assist Brad (Danny Pudi).
The last we saw of Mythic Quest was a special pandemic-inspired episode in May 2020, “Mythic Quest: Quarantine,” which the cast shot entirely in isolation from their homes. The second season takes place after the pandemic, with everyone back in the office.
Last year, Polygon sat down with Nicdao to talk about her role in the show. In the interview, she shared that she felt like the cast found their stride in season 1, but that “it’s really exciting to feel like we’re coming into season 2, and everyone’s got this confidence and really knowing what we’re doing.”
Season 2 of Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet will debut May 7 on Apple TV Plus.
