Timothy Olyphant could return as Raylan Givens in a new show from the Justified team

The show is based on an Elmore Leonard novel that doesn’t include Givens

The creative team that brought Justified to FX is making another show from the works of Elmore Leonard, Variety reported on Wednesday. This time around, the FX show will be based on the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit. Variety also reports that Justified star Timothy Olyphant could reprise his role as Raylan Givens in the new series.

The Leonard novel this show will be based on follows a killer named Clement Mansell who’s terrorizing Detroit and Raymond Cruz, the homicide detective trying to catch him. One strange thing to note is that while Variety mentions that it’s possible Olyphant’s Raylan Givens could have a staring or supporting role in this new series, he is not a character in the novel at all, indicating that the creative team could be deviating from the source material for the new show.

Graham Yost, the creator of Justified, will serve as the new series’ executive producer. Meanwhile, Justified writers and executive producers Michael Dinner and Dave Andron will co-write, executive produce and co-showrun the series. This new series will also bring back many of Justified’s other executive producers, as well as Peter Leonard from the Elmore Leonard Estate.
