Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ‘The Grave of Henry Avery’ treasures and collectibles locations guide

In this Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End guide, we’ll help you find the 11 treasures, two journal entries, one journal note, and two optional conversations in Chapter 8 “The Grave of Henry Avery.”

We’ve organized our guides by chapters. To find the chapter name, head to the main menu. When you choose to continue your Story game, you’ll see the chapter number and name. (Unlike the previous games, the chapter name is not part of your save file.) In the same menu, you can make sure you haven’t missed any collectibles in the Chapter Select option.

Chapter 8 follows the trio to Scotland and Saint Dismas’ Cathedral.

There’s no map in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, so for each of the collectibles below, we used photo mode to zoom out and give you some context surrounding the treasure locations. Use the images to make sure you’re in the right area and the added arrows to help you find your way.

[Treasure] Redware and Silver Jug Flask location

Right when the chapter starts, drop off the small ledge and start walking forward. The Redware and Silver Jug Flask is behind the large boulder on your left.

From the boulder and the Redware and Silver Jug Flask, face downhill toward the ocean. Head all the way down to the cliff, and follow it to the left. The Bronze Boar is a shallow cave along the left wall.

A little later, you’ll rappel into a small camp and have a quick shootout. After that, you’ll continue forward to some ruins. Stick to the rightmost edge of the ruins, and follow it out to the cliff’s edge. There’s a large crate there. The Carved Wood Kashkul is just to the right in some bushes.

After a lot of shooting and some dynamiting in the ruins, you’ll use a yellow crate on wheels to climb out. On the roof of the structure you climb out of, look a little downhill to your right. There’s a lot cave with wooden crates blocking the entrance. Dynamite them to find the Carved Nut Bottle inside.

A whole lot of swinging and climbing (and a couple big fights) later, you’ll come to an area with rockslides and ruins. In the second (more dangerous) sliding area, you’ll cut across to the left, and climb some ruined towers. The Traveling Inkwell with Seal is in a small alcove below you at the far side of the rock slide.

A little more climbing, some more rock sliding, and a big rope swing later, you’ll land in front of the dormitory doors. Climb up the wall to the left of the door, and head into the room above the doorway. The Carved Ivory Vanitas is at the feet of a statue inside.

Through that large gate, you’ll find the graveyard. Head over the low wall to the left to find a pair of excavated graves and this journal entry.

After you find Avery’s tombstone and head into the crypt, this journal note is in the first room you come to. Look in the far right corner as you come down the stairs.

Optional conversation 1 (of 2)

Continue through the crypt until you find the statues of Jesus, Dismas, and Gestas. Approach the statues to make a non-collectible journal entry. You’ll be able to trigger this conversation with Sam right after.

From the back of that same room, face the statues of Jesus, Dismas, and Gestas. Turn left, and head through the door. Take another left to find the Scottish Ha’penny.

On the other side of the wall with the three statues, you’ll find a candle and a puzzle. When you align all the light beams, approach Sam while he looks at the door to trigger this conversation. You’ll add the journal entry at the same time.

After your trip into the crypt, you’ll have a big fight with some Shoreline soldiers as you climb through the nearby ruins. At the top, you and Sam will head through another wooden gate. After a radio conversation with Sully, and some climbing, jumping, and swinging, you’ll end up in a area with several natural ledges above the water. There will be more Shoreline soldiers above you. Stick to the left and head into the cave.

Inside, duck into the tunnel on your right, and then follow it to the left. Take another left (at the skeleton with the flintlock) to find the Slipjoint Clasp Knife.

Just past that first cave, you’ll have a few Shoreline soldiers to deal with. Once they’re handled look to the right along the cliff face to spot another cave. Jump over, and the Pewter Singing Bird Box will be inside on your left.

A lot of nerve-wracking climbing and swinging will bring you to a large stone cross (Sam will help you over the lip of the cliff). At the top, turn around to your left, and drop off the edge again. You’ll climb down a set of handholds parallel to where you just climbed up. At the bottom, follow the ledge around to the right. You’ll find a broken ladder. The Tortoise Shell Snuff Box is at the top.

Through a tunnel and with a little more climbing, you’ll come to a tall cave above an old pirate ship. Hope across the beams to the wooden stairs. Head up the first flight, and follow the path around to the left. Walk to the right of the second set of stairs to duck under the platform. Turn to the right.
