Yeah I’m not sure how third-person hurts immersion any more than sitting in front of a TV holding a controller does.
Any first-person game with a character you can play dress-up with needs a third-person toggle, like Skyrim, so you can just look at your dude in the world whenever you want.
Cyberpunk’s perspective works because you spend a lot of time indoors or, in the story missions, looking through your character’s eyes.
Far Cry, on the other hand, doesn’t really justify it’s first-person perspective and I suspect the only reason it’s not third person is to differentiate it from Assassin’s Creed.

Yeah this is it for me too. Traversal really takes a hit in first person unless you develop ways to address those shortcomings, like Dishonored or Mirror’s Edge, but those are both games set in urban environments.
Far Cry has vehicles, so I guess you could have summonable flying mounts and gliders and stuff. We’ll see.
Also, the people in my replies against 3rd person in general?

A third of the screen?

Had to scroll back up to see what you were talking about. Woof. They should switch Peach and Luigi’s poses.

Making this first person seems like a weird choice, considering the whole point of the movies is how beautiful Pandora looks. I guess the immersion factor is one explanation but it seems strange to constrain player perspective.

Saw this in Calgary last year. It’s really gnarly but very well made. Jabbaz was there and was asked directly about the sexual violence and violence against women by an audience member and didn’t have a very thoughtful response. I don’t want to misquote him but from what I remember he didn’t have much of a point to it at all, it’s just supposed to be gross-out fun—and it is—but anyone sensitive to that kind of violence should be warned.
I really enjoyed the first episode.
It does a better job of nailing the workplace feeling than any other Star Trek pilot. Pike is an empathic leader who still requires his crew to do their jobs. There are some cute lines but they don’t distract. In fact, a few of them show that, even though Pike is the main character, the show isn’t only interested in a white, middle-aged American man’s perspective. It manages to have a chewy ethical dilemma that is relevant to our own world while maintaining the energy of the Chris Pine movies. (And, while I don’t care about this as much, shows the consequences of a plotline from Discovery).
I also think the design is excellent, something that Discovery and Picard really missed. The Enterprise is sleek and shiny but looks luxurious and comfortable (though the fireplace in Pike’s room is a little much). Everything feels crafted and real. I love the updates to the classic uniforms: they look comfortable enough to wear all day every day with more structure than a wool sweater.
I’m still not wild about how they shoot the exteriors—why is it so hard to see in space?—but there weren’t any big space scenes in this one so we’ll see how that develops.
Definitely in the top tier for Star Trek pilots and absolutely worth watching if you’re a 90s fan like I am.

Fascinating. I knew Noé had a new project but did not know it was an ad. What a wild world.

Do… do people not know what comedy is? I feel like I’m losing my mind with these comments.

It’s a joke. This whole trailer is a joke.

Good for him, I’m interested to see what he does with more freedom. All three of those Spiders-men are great blockbusters.

I just love how Japanese developers talk about their games.
American developer: Our game is so sick. The guns sound so loud. Just the illest shit ever.
Japanese developer: We sincerely hope our humble game will allow you to recapture those feelings of youthful discovery and joy that have been taken from you by the modern world.
