Another +1 for Control. Best game I’ve played since buying the XBox One X. It looks darned good, really good story and great gameplay. The DLC is also worth it, and the Alan Wake tie-in content is quite interesting. Looking forward to the sequel I hope they make.

The pulpy sci-fi is just so much more interesting than the Halo series so far. I do hope it gets renewed for season 2, and that they take a really hard look at who they have writing and running the show. I can be good, but it is not.

Agreed: Kwan is a horrible character, though really, there’s just some amateur writing throughout. I hope that with season two they’ll get some more depth in the writers room, and also have just a little more budget for props, vehicles and effects. It’s really really bad given what I’ve seen from Foundation, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Mandalorian… Hell, even BSG had higher production values and that was over 15 years ago.

With all that said, I’m still rooting for the show. We could have had a Neil Blomkamp feature many years ago and the test combat footage/short looked spot-on, so here’s hoping they take the broad levels of criticism to heart when working on season two.

Cruise HAS done an incredible job over his career. There are only a few films of his that I didn’t like. Regardless of what I think of him personally or his personal choices, he is a master of making entertaining and profitable films.
