Regretfully, the offering brought to us by the Video Game Theatre Players today is a tragic one.
They have recreated the death of Goofy from Kingdom Hearts 2. An expanded cast of Video Game Theatre players was trotted out to fully capture the magnitude of this tragedy — and they turned us in the audience into mourners with them.
Patrick Gill, playing Goofy, hit the stage so hard that, for a second, I believed I had witnessed his Black Swan moment. Truly, this is an artist who, for lifetimes, will be remembered as one of the greats.
Ashley Oh and Susana Polo keep their chins up as members of Goofy’s entourage. And Simone de Rochefort (no relation) as King Mickey is a revelation. So much power, and so much grace. As always, I was left eagerly awaiting my next trip to the theatre.
