New Assassin’s Creed Origins trailer introduces the game’s villains

Roman legionnaires are one thing, but the Order of the Ancients will be your real nemesis

Assassin’s Creed Origins has a new video out today that shows off the game’s opposing faction for the first time.

Based on the footage showed at E3 earlier this year, we knew that the sword-and-sandals action game would pit the main character, an assassin named Bayek, against Roman legionnaires. But the Order of Ancients is something else entirely. The video sets them up as the real force of power behind the pharaoh. They’re shown wearing elaborate metal masks to hide their identity.

Missing from the trailer was any more information on Bayek, something we also pointed out in our coverage at E3. So far, we know very little about this seminal Assassin. If this really is the origin story for the entire franchise, you can expect a lot more to be coming out in advance of its release on Oct. 27.

The game is expected to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One and will run at 4K resolution on Xbox One X and PC.
