Video games. Some would call them the most powerful medium. But what happens when you take a powerful medium and make it even more powerful through the powerful interpretive powers of acting?
Acting. Some would call it the hardest job — which is why we’ve enlisted professionals, the Video Game Theatre Players, to recreate for you the greatest scenes in video games.
This is Video Game Theatre. Yes, “theatre.” I don’t care about your American spelling. We’re in Shakespeare’s realm now.
Video Game Theatre will air weekly on Polygon’s YouTube channel. The regular cast will consist of critically lauded actors Patrick Gill and Simone de Rochefort (no relation). It will be presented by me, Simone de Rochefort, a certified lover of the arts.
A little bit about this scene, “The Master of Unlocking”: Boy, what a meaty text this was for our actors to handle. Every pause is weighted down with a thousand words unsaid. You can practically feel the fear and frustration weeping from the pores of the characters as they contemplate the strange place in which they find themselves, and how many doors they will face.
Join us for the debut episode of Video Game Theatre.
