Searchers after horror haunt far, strange places. Places like Polygon’s sprawling penthouse in old New York, where five scholars gather to prepare for an expedition from which they may never return. On their journey they will confront dark, unknowable truths which will loosen their grip upon reality itself. Their faculties will be flayed. Their constitutions will crumble. It will be excellent video content.

Overboard is a new monthly video series about board games, and we’re kicking it off with a journey to the Mountains of Madness. It’s a Lovecraft-inspired cooperative game where players work their way up a mountain. At each step, they’re tasked with gathering and deploying the right cards in the right amount. It’s a simple task that is quickly complicated by “madness cards” which give each player a unique set of restrictions that makes communication a messy ordeal.

Will our intrepid hosts survive their journey to the pinnacle and escape with their minds intact? Tune in to the premiere episode of Overboard to find out!
