We made director Cory Barlog interview the cast of God of War

Kratos confirms that a hot dog is a sandwich

Patrick Gill has been making videos for Polygon since 2016. He writes and produces video essays about games, with a focus on action and martial combat, Souls-likes, fighting games, pro wrestling, and Monster Hunter. He also co-hosts and produces Polygon’s weekly livestreams and special event streams on Twitch.

Cory Barlog is a busy man. God of War’s director is also a father, and now, a Polygon video producer.

When we had the opportunity to interview the cast of God of War, we couldn’t think of a better host than the man who worked with them for five years as they crafted the re-imagined version of series mainstay Kratos (Christopher Judge), as well as new characters Freya (Danielle Bisutti) and Baldur (Jeremy Davies). So, we handed Barlog a standard-issue list of Extremely Serious Interview Questions, and set him loose on his unwitting cast.

In his first assignment as a Polygon video producer, Barlog proved himself to be more than up for the task. Check out the video above to learn about the backyard acting origins of Danielle Bisutti, the cast’s unglamorous first jobs and to hear the gravelly voice of Kratos confirm that “a hot dog is, technically, a sandwich.”
