Simone de Rochefort has been producing & hosting YouTube videos for Polygon since 2016. She co-directed the upcoming documentary The Great Game: The Making of Spycraft.

Monikers is a guessing game that mashes charades and word association into a beautiful, chaotic mess.

Here’s how it works: Each player picks several cards with nouns on them. The goal is for the teams to guess what the cards are, and have the most correct.

In each of the three rounds, the teams go through the whole deck with increasingly difficult restrictions on which hints can be given.

In this video — our latest episode of Overboard — we play a highly competitive game of Monikers, pitting coworker against coworker. Will Brian’s Good Team be victorious over Simone’s Better Team? Will we find a clear, concise way to demonstrate “power bottom” in charades? Well, watch and see, my friend.

Overboard is our monthly board game video series. Previously we’ve played games like Betrayal At House On The Hill and Secret Hitler. You can keep up with this and our other series by subscribing to our YouTube channel.
