Wreckfest is a celebration of crashing cars. From the absurd carnage of demolition derbies to thrilling figure 8 races, every mode wants you to crash. Even the seemingly standard races are called “banger races” because spinning out opponents or shoving them right off the road is not only expected, it’s encouraged.
Few racing games come close to matching the feel of Wreckfest’s wrecks. The cars are weighty, the damage modeling meticulous, the tracks perfect for smashing cars together. That’s why I’ve assembled the list in the video above detailing the best ways to crash in Wreckfest.
To be sure, every way of crashing in this game is fun, but some modes and techniques really spoke to me. Like racing a tiny three-wheeled van against 23 full-size school buses or using the game’s exquisite drifting to smash your opponents out of the race instead of merely passing them.
If you feel like too many racing games limit your ability to crash, you owe it to yourself to give Wreckfest a try. The game is available now on Windows PC and arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 20.
