This week at the Gamescom convention in Germany, Capcom unveiled new gameplay for its upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2. The new clip highlights a section of the game featuring Claire Redfield, one of the main characters from the classic game, first released in 1998.
The Resident Evil 2 remake was first announced in 2015, but not shown publicly until Sony’s PlayStation E3 press conference earlier this year. The game is more than a simple remaster and, as this new video shows, makes excellent use of a new third-person, over-the-shoulder camera. A set of new screenshots is also embedded below.
Capcom’s remake was also featured prominently during this week’s presentation by Nvidia. The graphics card manufacturer showed off a four-minute clip from the opening of the game, which was running at 60 fps at a 4K resolution.
Resident Evil 2 is expected to release on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One Jan. 25, 2019. The base game will cost $59.99, but several collectors editions are available. That includes one Japanese exclusive bundle that will run you about $900.
