Mortal Kombat X makes a timely appearance on Xbox Game Pass this week — the sequel, Mortal Kombat 11, was announced at The Game Awards 2018 on Thursday night — and Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 joins Dec. 13 as a rare licensed sports video game appearing in season.
They join Ashen, the action RPG that was also announced and launched Thursday evening.
Mortal Kombat X launched in April 2015 and re-released as Mortal Kombat XL in March 2016. Xbox Game Pass subscribers get the first version, but XL, which includes all of the additional DLC characters and skin packs, is available at discount to subscribers for $15.99.
Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, a finalist for Best Sports/Racing Game at The Game Awards 2018, launched at the end of August. With EA Sports committing its lineup to EA Access, licensed sports games are a rarity on Xbox Game Pass. NBA 2K17 was added more than a year after its launch, as was WWE 2K17, since removed.
