Yakuza 6 guide: Stray cat locations and favorite food

There are countless distractions, minigames and meals to spend your time on in Yakuza 6. You can play video games, darts or even go (spear)fishing. One of the more taxing — but still very, very important — minigames is befriending stray cats in Kamurocho and Onomichi to populate an understaffed (undercatted?) cat cafe.

There are 19 cats to be found in the two cities, and each of them have its own food preference. The cats can be hard to find, and their dietary requirements can be expensive. Below we’ve got maps and lists of favorite foods to help you make friends.

Befriending cats

Befriending the stray cats around town is a two-step process. First you have to find them, then you have to feed them.

Sega

Each of the cats has three spots where they like to hang out. The problem is, like real cats, sometimes they’re just nowhere to be found. This means that sometimes when you show up to the three spots on the map below, the cat just won’t be there. In these cases, it’s best to just wander away and, also like with real cats, pretend you don’t care. Find something else to do — and there are plenty of things to distract yourself with — for a few minutes, then try again. When a cat is nearby, you’ll hear it meowing.

Once you (eventually) find a cat, you have to feed it until it likes you. You can feed a cat three times each time you meet it in an attempt to fill its friendship meter. If you feed a cat a food it loves, you’ll only have to feed it three times, but if you feed it a food they only like, you’ve have to feed it six (or so) times — and that means you have to find the same cat twice. Anything not on the lists below will make the cat run away, and you’ll have to find it again. The lists below tell you each of the cats’ preferences.

Where to buy cat food

Sega

To feed the cats and make them like you, you have to have cat food in your inventory. You can pick up cat food from the cat cafe, the pharmacy in Onomichi, Don Quijote in Kamurocho or from any Poppo store. Each Poppo only carries one or two kinds of cat food, so you may have to do some running around to find each cat’s favorite.
