How to get The Ancient Rito Song shrine quest

This is one of the few Breath of the Wild shrines to have a prerequisite: You must defeat Divine Beast Vah Medoh before you can start this shrine quest.

After doing that, head up the spiraling wooden stairs to the top of Rito Village. Look for a purple Rito woman, Bedoli, who will give you The Ancient Rito Song shrine quest. Though it’s optional, it’s also easy to speak to her sister, Laissa, to complete the clues. Since she’s in the hut right next door, you might as well.

Do both of those things, and you’ll get the words to the ancient Rito song:

The pride of the Rito, pillar in the sky,
its heart lights up, when the sun is high.
The heart shines upon a path now whole,
But a warming flame can stir its soul.

The lyrics tell you what you need to do: Wait until the sun is in a certain position, and use a flame. Doing so will reveal Bareeda Naag shrine.

It’s located south of Rito Village, so just jump off a high platform in the area and paraglide south (using your compass to orient yourself) until you’re on solid ground. (See the galleries above and below for exact positioning.) Search the surrounding area, and you’ll discover a round platform that unlocks the shrine.

Then look up and back toward Rito Village, until you’ll see that part of a towering rock formation creates a heart. That’s what the song was on about.

The key is to wait until the right time (about 12:35 p.m.), and then use a fire-based weapon on the platform. (We’ve heard that any fire-based weapon works, but we only got it to work when we fired, well, fire arrows into the middle of the platform at that time.) If necessary, light a fire with some flint and wood, rest until noon, and do your thing. (You can even use the fire to ignite a regular arrow.) Doing that will cause Bareeda Naag shrine to appear.

Bareeda Naag shrine location, treasure chests and puzzle solutions

Inside Bareeda Naag shrine, there are two puzzles — one mandatory, one optional — but both work the same way. You need to drop a round remote bomb into the canon and fire when the path is clear, so that the projectile hits the target on the far wall.

The first canon will open the door to the exit. Before you leave the room, turn to your left (if you’re facing the canon), and use a remote bomb to break the rock wall. Inside, you’ll find a treasure chest with a Falcon Bow Quick Shot.

If you walk through the open door and keep going past Bareeda Naag, you can find the second canon, which has more moving targets. Get it right, and you’ll find a treasure chest with a diamond (which makes the second canon totally worth it).
